Report Petition

I read this article last night in the St. Pete Times - did you know that Florida law ALLOWS sex offenders to visit a school, if the sex offender has a child at the school? My stomach turned as soon as I read it, as I live not too far from the area where a sex offender kidnapped and killed Jessica Lunsford.

Regardless of whether or not a sex offender has been a sperm donor, or is father of the year, he has no place on a school campus around MY child.

Let me clarify that I also believe the Florida laws don't use common sense when dictating who is a sex offender. Take the case of Emilio Johnston, who was mentioned in the article. At the age of 18, he was arrested for having sex with a 15 year old girl, and was ordered to register as a sex offender. I believe that people like Mr. Johnston are simply victim of a bad law. I see jim much differently from someone who was 30+ and had sex with a 15 year old. Or someone who is a sexual predator. I take no issue with "Romeo & Juliet" sex offenders being on campus, as long as they are supervised at all times. I do take issue with sexual offenders who fall into other catagories being on campus. I can not believe that after all the press regarding John Couey (who murdered Jessica Lunsford) working ON CAMPUS at a school, that Florida continues to permit sex offenders on school grounds, and in some cases, does not supervise them.

How does that protect my child? What are you going to do, Governor-Elect Charlie Crist, to protect our kids at school? Please sign this petition if you agree, so that we can let Charlie Crist and the rest of our government know that this is not acceptable!

32 26 Feb 2007 - 3:15    Mr. Jim Jones : English is your second language, isn't it? You don't have a first. You should offer your posting style to hospital operating theatres as a highly-effective alternative to unconsciousness-inducing medications. When I want your monkey-brained opinion I'll rattle your cage, okay? You are obviously suffering from Clue Deficit Disorder. Reading your post makes blindness a wonderful thing to look forward to. How true is Stanislaw J. Lec's famous remark: "Every now and then you meet someone whose ignorance is encyclopedic." When god was handing out personalities, you must have been holding the door. You're so boring, even a boomerang wouldn't come back to you. You have the warm personal charm of a millipede and about as much class as a bucket of mucous lodged on top of a dumpster in a Blue Light district of New Jersey. Maybe you wouldn't be such a Jerk-In-The-Box if you weren't afflicted with mental retardation; if your weren't so fat that when you stand on the weighing scale, it reads: "To be continued!", or if you didn't have a face that could scare a hungry wolf off a meat truck. Nah, of course you would. Finally, why don't you go and get lost somewhere where they don't have a "found" department?
