Created by Stop Sexism on April 5, 2008, 8:43 pm

The treatment of women as second class citizens must stop. The assault on the integrity of women has continued with a wide range of attacks including name calling, sexual innuendo, and degrading comments about acheivements and place in society. With the recent events of name calling including Randi Rhodes and Don Imus, and the ongoing assaults of women in our society and the media, we the undersigned call for you to do your part to end sexism in the media. We call upon you to end all support of media personalities and end sponsorships with companies who engage in or support sexist attacks of any kind.

77 6 Apr 2008 - 19:07    Rocio Juarez : This type of ad hominem attack injects a poison into the body politic of the United States. It is sad, but true, that these attacks have been given the green light by the media at large. Randi Rhode's (Air America) comments were made at an Obama sponsored fundraiser in San Francisco. Obama has not deemed it worthy enough of him to come out against and denounce these attacks because it largely serves his purpose. I am asking, demanding, that the media and talk radio take a hard look at itself and realize that they are largely to blame for propagation of bias and sexism in this election.I am disgusted by this.

70 6 Apr 2008 - 16:39    Patty Marriott : I am disgusted at the unadulterated hate that is spouted about women -- even more so when it is being done BY women. Just disgusting.

59 6 Apr 2008 - 14:25    Robert Murray : It is long overdue!

55 6 Apr 2008 - 13:43    Pamela Thompson : I used to listen to Air America. I have turned them Off,off because of the derogatory mark towards Hillary and her supporters
54 6 Apr 2008 - 13:28    Susan Krauss : Women are the only majority minority. How can that be? And sexism is virtually ignored. Most disgusting of all is that Air America is included in this. Makes you wonder what progressive organizations really stand for.
53 6 Apr 2008 - 13:25    Jeanne Hall : Racism and misogyny are equally harmful to the human spirit and should not be tolerated on ANY level.
52 6 Apr 2008 - 13:23    Sandra Heidemann :
51 6 Apr 2008 - 13:22    Kriss Brooks : I have stopped listening to ALL AA programming since before Christmas. Slowly, I could hear the partisanship turn toi cheerleading for Obama. I don't blam the hosts for supporting a candidate. They're citizens too! But the shows have turned into radio ads for Obama and bash parties for Clinton. I want them to talk issues. there are differences despite what we're being told. I want Obama's record scrutinized just as they've done Clinton's. His politically history in Chicago does not represent change or hope.
